Ornaments 2

Quite a few of the gals helped put these together today at our party.  All of the ones in the first picture are made with a picture of Timmy, MJ’s son who was killed in a car accident.  She was really touched that we made them for her and her family.

The ones in this second picture are mine.  One is of Timmy, the red one was made from a picture of fireworks.  I like how it spins.

And the last picture:  Timmy ornament in middle.

On the left is one made from a picture of boats.  One on the right is made from a picture of a dahlia.  It spins nicely too.

Cool ornaments Gayle! I need to get out my Kaleidoscope software and play. Oh yeah, in all my spare time! LOL

I’m a dunce. So… you have this software. And you give it a picture, and it spins/rotates/makesacooldesign/whatever and they are then printed out? On paper? Are these somehow quilted? I’m confused. Then you do all the cutting of the differnet ‘layers’ to put the final ornament together?

Yes Cinda. Printed on photo paper. Because the ornament is double sided, it prints 2 each of 3.5, 3, 2.5, 2 and 1.5 inch little kaleidoscopes, all on one 8×10″ piece of glossy photo paper. Then I cut em all out, put em together with a little spongy tab thing that acts as a spacer. This gives it dimension. Dont know what they are called, get em at walmart in the scrapbook aisle, or any craft store.

I just love those! I checked out the site and have a question. The software is separate from the ideas book? Do you have both? Do you NEED them or are they merely for inspiration. I wantt o make some of those for NEXT Christmas. I have decided I want to make most of my presents for next year and plan to start very soon after THIS one. Love your ornaments!

You have to have the software in order to make the kaleidoscope. It is also useful software for quilting (an easy way to do stack n whack kinds of things) and for scrapbooking.

If you just bought the project CD, you could use the ideas without the kaleidoscopes I guess, but it wouldnt be nearly as fun or as effective.

    Hope that helps.
