Woody Woodpecker

At 10 this morning, -9F and -26F windchill.

On to something more positive……..Here’s woody.  These pictures were taken the other day before we hit the real deep freeze.  I never saw a bird yesterday.  All day.  They must be frozen to the trees or ground or wherever they live.

I love your birds. I too am a lover. What kind of a camera do you have to be able to get such detail?

Trying to figure out if it’s a Downy or a Hairy? How big was it? Either way I love it…….they’re one of those special birds I really like to see!

Oh Judy, how the heck do I know??? lol Really, I’m no expert on bird identification. That would mean time to look it up and figure it out! As for size? Hmm, it was about 30 or 40 ft away… I would guess maybe 8″. But that’s a wild guess.

Ok….. I had to go look it up. Its a hairy woodpecker. Has a long beak and is way too big for a downy woodpecker.

Simply gorgeous photos! How lucky you are to live where you get to see beautiful wildlife.

By the way, it was -30 here in VT at 7 this morning and reached a positively balmy 2 at lunch time. 🙂
