I REALLY don’t need anything more to collect. sigh….
I saw some pie birds in a local antique shop and didnt know what they were. I was smitten. I am sure it is the shape. And some have real personality. Came home, started to do a little online research. The local shop wanted WAY too much.
But last week I caved to a weak moment…. and made my first eBay purchase ever. I got all of these for the price of half of one at a local shop. yaY me!
I really didnt need any more “dust collectors”. And I really dont have a good place to put them. But I really DO like them!
Addendum: sorry, I should have explained what they are. They are so NOT for cow pies. They are also known as pie vents. You put it in the middle of a double crust pie (normally fruit pie) to vent the steam. Old fashioned baking. As if I did any. And they still make new ones too. I guess they are quite collectible. Saw one go on ebay yesterday for 250.00. Nope, I will never collect them THAT seriously! I have way too much fabric to collect first.

And they’re called pie birds why? Look like they can hold a single toothpick. But otherwise look like dust collectors. Like I can talk….

What is a pie bird, Mz Gayle? Don’t think I ever heard of it. They would certainly catch dust at my house.

Oh, memories! Mike’s mum used to have some. One in particular was just like the black one in your photo! (smile) I hadn’t thought of those in a LONG time….thank you! (smile)

I have a couple of pie birds that friends gave me. I love them, but have never used them in a pie. Yours are great!

I have never heard of these… thank you for the explanation! I like that they are functional, too.
